Subject: CO-CURRICULAR COMPETITIONS IN GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS , 11
OF PUNJAB (COMPETITION DAY)

"Parho Punjab Bharo Punjab" and Quality Derive initiatives have been launched. As per general perception , the education comes from textbook learning (Taleem) is only 50% while the other 50% is character building (Tarbiat) which may be learnt from the co-curricular activities.
2. For the purpose, periodic plan of co-curricular activities is beingimplemented in all schools adopted by the officers of school education Department by holding the activities underlying:
i. Spelling in Urdu and English (from Syllabus previous month)
ii. Quiz in Science & Math (from Syllabus of previous month)
iii. Art (Calligraphy & painting)
iv. Debates (for Grade-6 to onward)
v. Milli Naghma
vi. Sports (Indoor) like race, tug of war, athletics etc
3. 1st competition regarding above mentioned activities was scheduled in
first week of May in all primary schools in Punjab. It was also intimated to all DTSC Heads that the said activities will be arranged indoor by utilizing 1-2 periods without wasting teaching time. The competitions were arranged class/Grade wise, if different sections of class are available then competitions started section wise to pick up three to students from each section and then complete them to decide top three students in overall Class/ Grade. The participation of students was admirable and they were seemed much excited and full of emotions by the start of these healthy competitions. They were very keen to be at the top in all activities as an actual spirit of sportsmanship. The Prizes and certificates were distributed to the toppers of each activity.
